Bern is Switzerland’s capital city, which was ranked one of the world’s heritage sites in 1983 and among top 10 best quality cities in 2010. Here are some tourist attractions you shouldn’t miss.

1. Old Town is where you can find magnificent architecture. Visit iconic buildings, including Münster Cathedral, Zytglogge Clock Tower and Parliament Building. Go shopping at small souvenir stores to luxury brand stores dotting along the stone-paved pathway with beautiful tall buildings on its both sides.

2. Zentrum Paul Klee is an art museum which exhibits Paul Klee’s art pieces. This tourist destination is located in the eastern suburban of Bern. The building was designed by a notable Italian architect Renzo Piano.

3. Einstein-haus is a flat located on Kramgasse No.49, which is now serving as a museum. During 1903-1905, it had been a former residence of Albert Einstein, who invented the most prominent equation in the 20th century, E = mc2. It exhibits photographs and some of Einstein’s work. Don’t forget to snap a shot at the second floor of the flat.

4. Rosengarten is a captivating rose garden full of rose scent. Enjoy over 220 types of rose along with other floral species. This area had been a graveyard for hundreds years before it was renovated and open for public in 1913. Its serenity makes it a perfect place for a light reading.

5. BärenPark (Bear Park) is located on a 6,000-square meter area. The beautiful nature and free entry make it famous among both the locals and tourists. You’ll get to take a close and safe look at the bears, whose name entitled the city since Bern refers to bears in German.

6. Bundeshaus refers to a federal palace with an iconic architecture. The central dome consists of two chambers of the western and eastern wards. It is serving as a government office with some areas opened for public. Note that the building is always crowded, so don’t forget to book a tour or you’ll miss it.

7. Gurten is a hill located at the southern part of Bern. The hill is 858 meters high, which can be accessed by cable cars that take only 5 minutes. Enjoy picturesque view and greenery on your way to the top to see the stunning Alps scenery.
