Europe’s First Underwater Restaurant
It is Europe’s first and world’s largest underwater restaurant with a total seating capacity of 100. This is Norway’s new landmark you should not miss.
Under is an underwater restaurant designed by Norwegian architect called Snøhetta. The building is half above water and half sunken 5 meters into the sea. The structure is built to eventually fully integrate into its marine environment, as the roughness of the concrete shell will function as an artificial reef, welcoming limpets and kelp to inhabit it.
Entering the restaurant at the upper half of the building, visitors will walk pass a champagne bar leading to the underwater dining hall. You’ll be impressed with fresh sea foods and local products such as mushrooms, berries, lamp and many more.
Under is of three-floor restaurant. The first floor, starting from the entrance, is a bar where you can see the beach and the underwater. The second floor is a dining hall with the most seating capacity. You can also see outside view from this floor. Third floor is a VIP area where visitors are allowed to observe the marine world through massive windows. There are only 14 exclusive seats where mainly sea foods are served.
The building also houses a marine research facility. You can say that Under is an eco-friendly restaurant. With its ecological structure, the restaurant has a rough concrete shell in which welcomes mussels and other marine lives to inhabit.
The restaurant also welcomes researchers and marine explorers and biologists, as well as their advice on marine ecology.
