These Natural Disasters Are Covered by Car Insurance

These Natural Disasters Are Covered by Car Insurance

Natural disasters that occur seasonally in Thailand include floods, storms, landslides, earthquakes, drought, and forest fires. The damages followed by those disasters affect both lives and properties. So let’s see the policy on natural disasters from most car insurers.

1. Floods: Floods cause car drowning every year. The level of damage varies from light to severe. Car insurance Type 1 has the most comprehensive coverage. Some insurers offer flood coverage on Type 2+ as well. The policy allows you to claim damages, medical expenses, and accident insurance.

2. Storms: Thunderstorms and hailstorms are severe enough to knock down trees and ruin houses in just the blink of an eye. For damaged cars, car insurance Type 1 and Type 2+ cover pretty much everything, including medical expenses, accident insurance, and driver’s insurance.

3. Earthquakes: Earthquake is an unpredictable disaster, and it comes with an aftershock. Earthquakes usually occur in the northern part of Thailand, where various faults are still active and ready at all times to give the earth a shake. The level of the quakes may be hazardous to lives and properties. For damaged cars due to earthquakes, car insurance Type 1 and 2+ covers both lives and properties as stated in the policy.

3. Landslides: Rockfalls and mudflows are dangerous obstacles to driving. If landslide is a cause of your car damage, car insurance Type 1 will have everything covered.

4. Fire: The common source of wildfire can be natural dryness, branches rubbing against each other, or lightning. Car insurance Type 1 covers damages due to wildfire. Some insurers also offer wildfire coverage in Type 2 and 2+ but with limited conditions.

5. Meteorites: Car damage due to meteorites or parts of rocketship fallen from space is considered one of the natural disasters. It can be very rare and may not happen at all, but car insurance Type 1 still has it covered for you.

In summary, Type 1 is a comprehensive coverage--from damages to body, life, and property that belong to you and the other party. Type 2+ is almost comprehensive. Please review terms and conditions from the insurance company.

Car insurance companies may refuse to pay the claim if they find any suspicion which indicates an inattentive driving or an intention not to avoid the forthcoming natural disasters, for example, an attempt to drive through an area with huge flood, landslide, ground rupture due to earthquake,or fallen trees. This also includes any false damage and claim.

If a driver drives an insured car that belongs to someone else--and they are driving with no valid driver’s license, while drunk or stoned, or are committing illegal activities and have the car claimed; the driver will be prosecuted for non-life insurance fraud.

You’ll never know when your car will be damaged by one of those natural disasters. That’s why car insurance with natural disaster coverage is a totally worthwhile option with your life and property being covered 24/7.
