Vitamin supplement has become a trend among healthy office workers. Its capsule form is a convenient alternative for those who dislike the natural scent and flavor. Let’s have a look at to take vitamin supplements effectively.

1. Blood result determines your vitamin choice.

A common misunderstanding about vitamin is that people think that they can take any vitamin available on the market by just reading at its description. However, your vitamin selection depends on your blood result. Before buying a vitamin, it’s better to take a blood test at the hospital. Your blood result should reflect what type of vitamin or nutrients that you lack. Blood test can reduce risk of potential diseases and prolong the starting period of the diseases.  

2. Know what vitamins to buy.

Vitamins can be classified into 3 types: “dangerous drugs” means drugs that can be purchased only under a medical prescription; “finished drugs, except dangerous and controlled drugs”, distributing-controlled drugs which cannot be purchase at drugstores; “supplement”, can be purchased without a prescription at drugstore, easily spotted with FDA logo. Vitamin should be consumed under a professional care to avoid harmful effects.

3. Know the difference between vitamin supplements and medical drugs.

Substances in medical drugs aren’t self-generated. They are used for remedial treatment, which needs to be quit when the treatment finishes. On the other hand, vitamin supplements are taken to compensate lack of essential nutrients in your body to prevent illness. Advertisers these days are positioning vitamins as magic drugs, which convinces people to take those vitamin supplements. However, taking supplements with prescribed drugs can be dangerous. For example, anti-biotic and antacid should not be taken with certain vitamin supplements since it would reduce anti-biotic absorbing quality.

4. Consume properly.

Foods are made from many beneficial ingredients. Eat properly and control your eating habit. Healthy food can push you away from illness and is the best form of any vitamin.
