House Checklist before a Long New Year Break

House Checklist before a Long New Year Break

New Year break is the time we celebrate this special occasion. Here are lists of what should be done before you leave your house for a long vacation.

1. “Leave your house to the police” is a governmental campaign aimed to monitor safety in the neighborhood during holidays. The campaign lasts 10 days during the New Year break. If interested, the house owner can simply contact nearby police station. Statistics shows that the campaign can reduce numbers of burglary. This campaign involves an application that allows the police and the house owner to communicate.

2. Let your neighbors know you’re away if they stay home during the holiday. Make sure to bring them some souvenirs when you’re back.

3. Install CCTVs, auto light sensor or burglar alarm on certain corners of the house. Download  “Police I lert U” application that allows you to reach out to the police in case of an emergency.

4. Shut off valves and power system. Make sure you lock every window and door around the house.

5. Your valuable belongings might be kept safely in the safe, but they must be safer in the bank with 24-hour security. If you have pets and nobody can’t take care of them for you, consider taking them to the pet daycare.

6. Don’t leave your car at home. If you leave for another country or province, consider leaving your car at the airport that allows one-week free parking. Otherwise, take your car to a car parking service.

7. Avoid online shopping delivery during your vacation. Burglars may dress up as postmen driving a truck and break into your house—and your neighbor won’t notice. You may have to tell your neighbor not to sign your receipt nor receive your cash-on-delivery parcel.
